Must-see trailer of TOUCH - Stars Kiefer Sutherland in an amazing new TV series!

TOUCH stars Kiefer Sutherland, Danny Glover, David Mazouz, Karen David, and Philip Shahbaz and centers on a father who discovers his autistic, mute son can actually predict events before they happen.

When I saw this I immediately thought of Knowing, The Mothman Prophecies, and the book Simple Simon. Knowing drowned itself by its third act, The Mothman Prophecies was surprising good, with a mix of the supernatural and thriller and Simple Simon was made into an average Bruce Willis film.Touch seems more action based with Kiefer Sutherland’s Martin Bohm going out on missions his son assigns him through his gift (watch the TV trailer, you’ll see).

Some believe this show has a few hurtles to overcome and I have to agree. Here are a few:

First, being as it’s on Fox and stars Kiefer Sutherland, it’ll be difficult for the actor to break away from the shadow of Jack Bauer. In the first episode or two, he’ll really have to differentiate this character from that one by showing a bunch of vulnerability. The trailer seems to hint at that, but it also shows him as a potential hero.

Second, it’ll have to live up to the hype. When you set up serialized mysteries, you always face the demon of expectations. Expectations are rarely met on the small screen (think Twin Peaks, Lost, X-Files, etc.) and even Heroes, Kring’s claim to fame, started strong and then got super crazy and uninteresting, losing focus in a big way. Can Touch keep us guessing while also providing answers? And where does this show go? Does the son just keep setting up problems to be solved? That would get very old, very quick.

Touch also stars David de Lautour, Massi Furlan, Wesam Keesh, Simon Delaney, David Mazouz, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Samantha Whittaker, Laura Meadows, Franco Vega, Eijiro Ozaki, and Satomi Okuno.

Watch the Touch TV show trailer below and leave your thoughts on it. Touch will premiere in the spring of 2012.
