Emmy Awards 2011: Best/Worst Style

Nina Dobrev
In the night's most coveted color, the Vampire Diaries star stole the spotlight in a sculptural Donna Karan gown. A+
From the red knock-outs (Nina Dobrev! Kate Winslet! Lea Michele!) to the weird (Gwyneth) and wacky (Heidi Klum), we grade 30 notable red carpet styles.

Kerry Washington
Striking just the right balance of sparkle, Washington made a shining appearance in a brilliant Zuhair Murad Couture number. A

Christina Hendricks
Hendricks worked her trademark va-va-voom, but balanced the look with an intricately design Johanna Johnson gown. A

Lea Michele
The Glee star took a break from her ball gowns and went with a more sleek Marchesa column gown. A

Cobie Smulders
Smulders proved that she has more up her sleeve than her How I Met Your Mothercharacter's casual wardrobe with an ethereal dress by Alberta Ferretti. A

Evan Rachel Wood
Hello, Hollywood glamour! Wood looked positively stunning in an Elie Saab creation. A-

Kate Winslet
It's a rarity for the Oscar winner to make a misstep, and she proved it once again in this flawless Elie Saab dress. A-

Kristen Wiig
The funny lady was nothing short of pure elegance in an ombre Zac Posen number. B+

Cat Deeley
It's no surprise that the host — already famous for her envious So You Think You Can Dance wardobre — was on point yet again in a glittery Monique Lhuillier gown. B+

SofÌa Vergara
Though the earrings teetered on overkill, they couldn't take away from her expertly draped coral Vera Wang gown. B

Claire Danes
She's fared well in sequin column gowns before, and once again, Danes shined in a geometric-print number by Oscar de la Renta. B

Julie Bowen
Like Danes, the Emmy winner struck gold in a similarly structured — and still dazzling — Oscar de la Renta dress. B

Amy Poehler
The Parks and Recreation star swapped Leslie Knope's pantsuit ensemble for a more fashion-forward Peter Som gown. B

Jennifer Carpenter
Equal parts elegant and sexy, the Dexter star glided onto the carpet in a shimmery Tony Ward dress. B

Heather Morris
Ruffles can tricky, but the Glee star struck a perfect balance in this effortless look. B

Kaley Cuoco
Breaking free from the Big Bang boys' club, Cuoco took her Romona Keveza LBD to the next level with a fun hemline and some bold accessories. B

Padma Lakshmi
We can appreciate the flattering color choice of the Top Chef host's Armani Prive dress, but not its overly monochromatic effect. B-

Dianna Agron
Channeling Grace Kelly, Agron scored with a brilliant color and flopped with a misshapen silhouette. B-

Elisabeth Moss
Despite the beautiful beadwork, it's hard to get behind Moss' matronly Marchesa gown.B-

Julia Stiles
No frills, no sparkles — but the Dexter star still makes a mark in a sophisticated Georges Hobeika Couture gown. B

Olivia Munn
We understand the movie-sitcom-Daily Show star has a busy schedule, but was a five-minute fitting for this ultimately saggy Carolina Herrera number not feasible? C+

Minka Kelly
Is Kelly mourning the end of her relationship with Derek Jeter? That's the only explanation for this inappropriately somber Christian Dior gown. C

Gwyneth Paltrow
If we had abs like Paltrow, we might show them off, too, but maybe on an edgier red carpet like the Grammys. C

Julianna Margulies
The Emmy winner took a walk down the red carpet — and apparently down the aisle — in this matrimonial-inspired Armani Prive gown. C

Maria Bello
There's a fine line between beautifully bejeweled and Vegas showgirl. Maria, we're sorry to say you're not beautifully bejeweled. C-

Paz de la Huerta
She works period costumes every day on the set of Boardwalk Empire, but it looks like de la Huerta borrowed from a different time period — tacky 80s prom — on Emmy night.D-

Jayma Mays
Taking a cue from her Glee co-star's look last year, Mays looked to Little Bo Peep for some sartorial inspiration. C-

Heidi Klum
We couldn't decide if Klum was enveloped by a mushroom or beige coral, but either way, it's just wrong. D+

Katie Holmes
We're all for minimalism, but we're also all for proper fit and a hairdo that doesn't look straight-from-the-gym. D-

Taraji P. Henson
Did Henson's invite call for sparkly nightgown-wear? F
