MAN OF STEEL | Soars to the top of Philippine box office with P247-million in 5 days!

Manila, June 17, 2013 – Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ “Man of Steel” has opened to a record-breaking P247-million in the Philippines, marking the all-time biggest June opening ever in the industry.

The announcement was made today by Francis Soliven, General Manager of Warner Bros. (F.E.), Inc. which distributed the film.

“We’re thrilled at the tremendous response we’ve seen from audiences across the country to Zack Snyder’s exciting new vision of the iconic Super Hero,” said Soliven. “From internet presales to people lining up for theaters, `Man of Steel’ has proven to be the must-see film of the season.”

The new Superman movie shattered the record for highest June opening weekend in history previously held by “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” 2011.. 

“Man of Steel” also outgrossed 2011’s “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2” to claim the best weekend launch ever for a Warner Bros. title. 

Earlier Wednesday, June 12 the Henry Cavill-starrer established a new record for all-time biggest first-day gross with P69.52-M, eclipsing the milestone “Iron Man 3” reached last April with P62.9-M.

SM North EDSA got the lion’s share of gross receipts with P14.74-M, followed by SM Mall of Asia (P14.24-M) and SM Megamall (P10.77-M).

The best-selling cinemas also include Trinoma (P9.18-M), Glorietta 4 (P7.74-M), SM Cebu (P6.81-M), SM Southmall (P6.44-M), Newport (P5.80-M), Gateway (P5.79-M) and Power Plant (P5.38-M).

Rounding out the Top 20 theaters are Eastwood (P5.29-M), SM Fairview (P4.99-M), Greenbelt 3 (P4.89-M), SM Aura (P4.46-M), Alabang Town Center (P4.24-M), Market! Market! (P3.96-M), Shang Cineplex (P3.70-M), SM Clark (P3.55-M), SM San Lazaro (P3.42-M) and SM Marikina (P3.21-M).

ModelSpotting Exclusives: Photographer SERGE LEE interview | Exclusive photos ft. Alexsandr Timohin

Last week, Serge emailed me a set that he believes should be shared more. A set featuring a very attractive young man by the name of Ramin Ismailov. 

Ramin is a very beautiful and huge young man who was last seen in Russia's reality TV show "Mexican Holidays 2." He is immaculately built, strong and tight muscles cover his sex appeal ridden body and a face that sets someone's desires on fire. Luscious lips and dangerously sexy eyes that could easily send one into a trance. If some models are known for their lips, Ramin could easily be recognizable for what I think is one of the most beautiful smoldering pair of eyes, definitely his signature feature. Imagine how you'd be able to concentrate if you were in one of Ramin's shows where he performs as a Go-Go Dancer.

In an exclusive conversation, I got to ask Serge a few questions about what he thought of Ramin.

ModelSpotting: So Serge, how did you and Ramin meet?

Serge: I met through Facebook. I have seen his pictures and I couldn't help but invite him to a session.

ModelSpotting: And what can you say about the shoot you had with him?

Serge: I guess this shoot was so effectively, because we took a lot of pictures for several hours! We have some hot stuff and we will show you this wonderful shots soon! This is only first part of our big session!

This is probably one of the freshest piece of content I am every going to post. As I was editing my story for photographer Osvaldo Rivera today, I was plucked out of concentration when a message window suddenly popped at the bottom part of my screen with the message, "Jays, where are you? I need you now! lol". You can imagine how mystified and amused I was with such a cryptic message right? The message was from the very sweet Osvaldo himself, as if he knew I was composing the story for his post. :o)

I love how shared interests bring people together and thanks to technology, these are so easy to do now.

I am truly pleased and humbled by how far ModelSpotting has gone. From my simple postings where I share my most favorite photos, it has become a depot for some of the best models, photographers and images being released and discovered around the world. As such, it has also given birth to wonderful new friendships and two of them are my friendships with model Bobby Creighton and Osvaldo Rivera.

It was only in March when I posted my very first feature on Bobby:

ModelSpotting:  Haha! Yeah, I get that a lot. So, tell us about yourself. Your birthday, where you are from? 

Osvaldo: My birthday is on January 13 and I am from the beautiful Puerto Rico.

ModelSpotting: Ah yes, wish I could visit that country someday.

Kraft Zesty Italian Dressing ad with Hot Daddy spark controversy

The world of advertising has truly become very competitive. It has also become radical, daring and liberated.  In line with Kraft's promotion for their latest product, the Zesty Italian Dressing, on of their first ads seen was in People Magazine. An ad that showcases a very attractive man. A very SEXY man whose privates are covered by a portion of the picnic blanket. 

If one were to analyze, and I volunteer my own interpretation. This as speaks to me and says that instead of being traditional, let's change things up a bit. That despite the brand being a very old brand, it knows how to follow trends. That their target market is not only the old, but also the new. That Kraft understands us, now that we are in 2013.

The ad however has raised eyebrows in some parts of the world, particularly that of a supposedly moralist group called One Million Moms. On their site, they have expressed their disgust over the ad by saying:

Last week's issue of People Magazine had the most disgusting ad on the inside front cover that we have ever seen Kraft produce. A full 2-page ad features a n*ked man lying on a picnic blanket with only a small portion of the blanket barely covering his g*nitals. It is easy to see what the ad is really selling. A person has to look closely to see the item the company is marketing because the salad dressing bottle is so small next to the male model, picnic basket and other food items. There is also a small Kraft logo in the upper corners with the words "Silverware Optional - Let's Get Zesty." The website getmezesty.com is listed in the bottom corner.

Kraft has gone too far and will push away loyal, conservative customers with this new ad campaign. Christians will not be able to buy Kraft dressings or any of their products until they clean up their advertising. The consumers they are attempting to attract - women and mothers - are the very ones they are driving away. Who will want Kraft products in their fridge or pantry if this vulgarity is what they represent?

One Million Moms cannot get over the gall of this company. It is unnecessary for Kraft to use s*x to sell salad dressing! (An asterisk is used to ensure our emails get through to those who have signed up to receive our alerts. Otherwise, referencing specific words would cause our emails to be blocked by some Internet filters.)

To me, this is an over reaction to something that challenges their own beliefs. Values are taught at home, and irregardless of what is advertised and peddled, each parent's influence is key. So stop blaming advertising and just be responsible enough to watch over your family and stop slinging dirt at your neighbors. It might just surprise other people that your own backyards are the ones that really need cleaning.

Nuff said.

ModelSpotting: MIKE ROBILLARD | The crazy sexy 22-year old construction worker from Montréal. Shot by Paul Henry Serres

As shared with you in my post featuring Joey Berry yesterday, ModelSpotting: JOEY BERRY | The 20-year old fitness champion from Ontario. Shot by Paul Henry Serres, I introduced to you a very talented and wonderful photographer Paul Henry Serres, thanks to my oh so lovely friend Carmela aka "Z" of Eye Candy! 

Well, guess what? We are back with more and this time, we present to you a primer featuring this unbelievably sexy model Mike Robillard. We say primer because Paul will be shooting Mike again in July and we will be releasing an exclusive "first look" for that set here in ModelSpotting immediately after the shoot. So stay tuned for that! 

Mike Robillard is a very young and strong man from Montréal. He is only 22-years old and works as a construction worker. Whew! Desiring construction workers haven't been this inviting since forever!

ModelSpotting: So Paul, how did you meet Mike Robillard?

Paul: It was last summer in June. I spotted him here on Facebook, and asked him if he wanted to so a fitness shoot for my next calendar. He quickly agreed and here are the results."

ModelSpotting: What can you say about Mike as a model? 

Paul: Being a construction worker keeps him in shape all year long. He is very dedicated in working out. He loves being in front of the camera, and now he is working out very hard for our next shoot which will be in July.

ModelSpotting: Where was the shoot and how long?

Paul: The shoot was done in two parts. The first part was outdoor and the second part was inside and around the studio. The shoot was about 3-4 hours long.

Dima: I was born on April 3, 1980 in Cheboksary, Russia. Now I live and work in two cities, Moscow and in Cheboksary.

ModelSpotting: And what did you study in college? 

Dima: I finished graphic arts and also studied design.

ModelSpotting: Are you single or married? 

Dima: I'm free =D (Sorry, I just had to publish as he said it. So adorable!)

ModelSpotting: Can you tell us a little about your family?

Dima: I have a big family! I am the youngest of 5. They are all happily married with children now. Me, I have a dog, Frida! (This guy is getting adorable each minute!) 

ModelSpotting: DAMIAN PARIS | Photographer Andrés Ramírez delivers yet another Spanish special

Andrés Ramírez is one photographer I truly appreciate. Despite his busy schedule, he never fails to send over his latest pieces and introduce his new discoveries. This week, Andrés brings to us a 25-year old Spanish from Coruña by the name of Damian Paris.

Damian is a very nicely built and lean sexy young man who is very passionate about football and martial arts. Fresh and naive, Damian shares innocence and simplicity but at the same time sexy and seductive. 

His face leaves a very charming impression, coupled with very manly and inviting features. He has beautiful long arms and legs that manage to make him look taller and longer which is an advantage, and perfectly developed muscles that show how much potential there is and how beautiful he can be in the coming years.

MAN OF STEEL | Biggest all-time opening day record of Warner Bros. at P69.52-M!!! Beats Iron Man 3!

MANILA, June 13, 2013 – The new, origin film of Superman flew off to a blockbuster start yesterday as “Man of Steel” surpassed the industry's all-time opening day record with a nationwide gross of a monumental P69.52-M.

“Man of Steel's” phenomenal debut bested the opening day record previously established only last April by “Iron Man 3” at P62.9-million.

This was announced today by Francis Soliven, general manager of Warner Bros. (F.E.), Inc. which distributed the film. “This is a day of reckoning for Superman,” added Soliven. “He's a larger-than-life character beloved by millions of Filipinos, and this was proven today. Fans and families welcomed him back overwhelmingly as evidenced by the long lines, the ubiquitous Superman shirts everywhere, and the cheers at the end of screenings.”

Dominating the over all box-office with a 94 percent share, “Man of Steel” also posted the biggest opening day gross ever for Warner Bros. whose previous best first-day performer was “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” at P28.3-million.

From Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures comes the epic action-adventure “Man of Steel,” under the direction of Zack Snyder (“300,” “Watchmen”).
